A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The
Dream Master
Starring:
Robert Englund
Directed by:
Renny Harlin
Rated R
Genre:
Horror
Original
Release Year: 1988
Synopsis:
Kristen has been released from the psychiatric hospital and is now leading

My Thoughts:
When you keep the same characters, but change the actor, you know you are
going to have problems.
Scorecard
Acting-
Tuesday Knight plays Kristen (was portrayed by Patricia Arquette in number
3) and does an okay job, but nothing awe inspiring. The supporting cast
seemed very uninterested with their characters and it really dragged the
film down. Robert Englund again returns and portrays Freddy Kruger, and
again, does a pretty good job in his character. (1/2)
Direction-
Renny Harlin steps up to the helm for this sequel. While Harlin is known
for his huge hits (Die Hard 2) and his huge flops (Cutthroat Island), this
film is somewhere in between. I believe he tried to pull off a good job,
but there seemed to be something holding everything back, and I think it
was the story. The direction of this film was decent at best. There were a
few shaky parts that shouldn't have been there, but at least it seemed he
tried. (1/2)
Story-
Kristen and her friends (the ones that survived from the 3rd movie) are
now leading normal lives and are even attending high school, everything
seems to be going good, until Freddy returns, again. There was something
about the way this story was written that really irked me. It seemed that
the story was literally thrown together at the last minute. There was
little flow and the only thing it had going for it was the continuity, and
that really did not help much. (0)
Expectations-
After the third movie, I was hoping that the franchise would be turning
for the good. It didn't. This film fell flat in my eyes, and did not live
up to any of the expectations I had for it. (0)
Boring?- 100 minutes. 100 minutes of sheer boredom. The
story dragged, a few moments of terrible overacting, and just overall
nonsense. This film was boring in every sense of the word. (0)

Final
Thoughts: Well...the series is having problems. This film
really doesn't even deserve the full star that it earned. I personally
would not recommend that you waste your time with this film, it is one
hundred minutes of pure crap. At least it wasn't the second film. Watch
something else.
