BORAT!: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.
Starring: Sacha Baron Cohen Directed by: Larry Charles Rated R Genre: Comedy Synopsis: A TV personality from Kazakhstan travels to the USA to try to find things to make his country better. My Thoughts: This movie was very funny. There were a few VERY disturbing parts, but those parts just added onto the hilarity of the movie. It was very satirical and this movie shows the ignorance of people in general, which is great. Scorecard Acting- I am not a big fan of Cohen. He usually does not make me laugh. But his character in this movie was very funny, he played his part very well, and I really cannot see any flaws with the acting job he did. (1) Direction- I did not like the direction of this movie as much as I should have. The story basically gives the direction, but for some strange reason, the direction seemed off. But since the story basically moved this movie into a certain direction, I can't give this a zero. (1/2) Story- This was actually well written. Very memorable times throughout this entire movie. I liked the general idea of the film, and then the side story of Borat trying to get to California made the movie more interesting. The sad thing is, this movie was too short. More on that in the last category. (1) Expectations- This movie was hyped up beyond belief. So of course, I was expecting it to be a complete crap fest. It wasn't. This film was very funny, and FAR surpassed expectations I had for it. (1) Boring?- This movie was not boring at all. It keeps you laughing. I don't complain about this too often, but I really wish there was more to this movie. With a running time just shy of 85 minutes, I really think that they could have added more to it. This category is called "Boring" but this movie needed more. (1/2) Final Score: 4 out of 5 Final Thoughts: Do Not go see this movie if you are easily offended. You will be offended and you certainly will be grossed out. There are so many things that this movie did right, surprisingly. The satire was clever, the witty dialogue was very well written and spoken, the jokes while not great jokes per se were very funny. And of course, a fat naked guy and a skinny naked guy running around a hotel is gold. I whole heartedly recommend this movie, only if you do not take life to seriously.
