Casino Royale
(1967)
Starring: Woody Allen and
David Nevin and Peter Sellers and Orson Welles
Directed by: John Huston
Not Rated
Genre: Comedy
Synopsis: The synopsis is way
too confusing to be typed in one sentence. Sorry.
My Thoughts: This film was a
James Bond movie, but it wasn't an official Bond movie, because it wasn't
made with Albert R. Broccoli and was very loosely based on the Ian Fleming's
book of the same name. This was a comedy, with an all-star cast.
Scorecard
Acting-
I do not like Woody Allen. His acting in my opinion is crap. David Nevins
as Bond was terrible, the only acting job I liked was Orson Welles as the villain
Le Chiffre, and that wasn't good enough to give this category a good
rating. (0)
Direction-
This movie was split into different chapters. It was a terrible idea. It
was hard to follow and all the different directors (six in all) did a
really bad job. (0)
Story-
I really liked the book Casino Royale, so I thought that this story would
be pretty good. It wasn't, this movie was very loosely based on the book
and was turned into a comedy. It was a terrible mistake. (0)
Expectations-
Like I said, I really enjoyed the book. I hoped this movie would be
decent. Then the credits began rolling at the beginning. Once I saw Woody
Allen's name on my screen, I knew this was going to be bad. (0)
Boring?-
Yes. Even as a spoof of spy movies, this was crap. It was not funny at any
time, the story dragged, the acting was terrible, everything added
together makes a very boring movie. (0)
Final Score: DUNG!
0 out of 5
Final Thoughts: I was really
worried when I heard that they were going to remake this movie. Luckily
the remake was closer to the book. Unless you like really bad comedies, or
like Woody Allen, avoid this movie at all costs.
