Cry
Baby

Starring: Johnny Depp
Directed by: John Waters
Rated PG-13
Synopsis: A 1950's teen rebel and a country club beauty
fall in love.
My Thoughts: This movie was supposed to be a parody of all the
teenie-bop movies, I can see how, it does poke fun at them, but overall
this movie wasn't all that good.
Scorecard:
Acting - A very
young Johnny Depp stars as a rebel with a cause. The acting in this movie
gave me a headache. It seemed as though Depp was trying way to hard to be
the outcast, and it just didn't work. (0)
Direction - I'm
still not sure where this movie was supposed to go. The direction wasn't
terrible, but when you have problems following the movie, that is where
you need to turn, and I really had problems following the movie, I am not
sure if it was because I was disinterested or because the movie didn't
make much sense. (0)
Story -
Everyone has seen the story before. The good little rich girl falls for
the rebel. It's the same overdone story, this movie was made in 1990 and
even back then the story was overdone. But the did try a little, so I
really can't rightfully give it a zero (1/2)
Expectations -
I had none going into this movie. It looked bad from the moment I picked
it up from the shelf of my local Front Row Video store. (PLUG!!!), this
movie neither shocked me nor disappointed me. (1/2)
Boring? - While I
really wouldn't say this movie is boring. It is dull. There is nothing
really exciting about this movie. But some of the tunes sung in this movie
are catchy so I can't give it a zero here. (1/2)
Final Score: 1
1/2 out of 5
Final Thoughts: This movie was a musical. Not too many
musicals are great anyways. this is no different. I think I have seen 2
really good musicals transcend onto the silver screen really well. This
wasn't one of them.
