This week I decided to go and see The Da Vinci Code in theaters, and so, here is the review.

Da Vinci Code Poster

Starring: Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon

              Audrey Tautou as Sophie

              Ian McKlellan as Lee

              Paul Bettany as Silas

Directed by Ron Howard

Rated PG-13

Now, I did read the book some time ago, so I really didn't remember the story very well.

Synopsis : The curator of the Louvre in Paris has been murdered, and it is up to an American  professor of symbology Robert Langdon and a French cryptographer Sophie Neveu to find out why. Things begin to turn as the holy grail becomes a part of the mystery. But it isn't what most people think.

My Thoughts: I thought this movie was very well done, the acting was great and the story was intriguing. I did have a few complaints but not enough where I wouldn't recommend this movie. I think not remembering the book helped a lot too, because the story was almost new to me, and after reading up on the movie, I understand that there was a few things left out of the movie that were pretty important to the book, but I think that the movie stood up by itself as fantastic, even if the book wasn't there to back it up.

 Scorecard:

Acting: I think that the acting was phenomenal in this movie. Everyone played their parts very well and the actors seemed to interact very well. (1)

Directing: Now don't get me wrong, I like Ron Howard, and I think that his directing was pretty good, but it seemed to be lacking something. The direction of the movie flowed well enough not to get hurt too badly. (1/2)

Story: This story has to be one of the most controversial stories in modern time. This movie was well written. (1)

Not over the top: This movie was no where near over the top. It was done very well and no one can justify too many complaints. (i did have a couple, but not enough to hurt the rating any.) (1)

Keeps me entertained: Ala it doesn't bore me. I have to admit it, as much as I really enjoyed this movie, there were a few parts the bored me. There were scenes in the movie that were a little excessive in time. (1/2)

Final Score: 4 out of 5

Final Thoughts: While it scored a 4 out of 5, don't let the rating discourage you from seeing this movie. It was very well written and acted. You will enjoy this movie, there is no doubt about it.
