Kingdom of Heaven

Starring: Orlando Bloom, Liam
Neeson, Edward Norton
Directed by: Ridley Scott
Rated R
Genre: Action/Drama
Synopsis: A blacksmith
follows his estranged father to Jerusalem during the crusades
My Thoughts: I went and saw
this in theaters with some of my friends, hoping it would be a great
movie. It wasn't.
Scorecard
Acting- Orlando
Bloom is one of the most over rated actors right now, I was not impressed
with his skills, and was really disappointed in with his character. Liam
Neeson did a good job as usual, and Edward Norton (whom was under a mask
the entire movie) did a great job with what he had to work with. (1/2)
Direction- I
have liked a lot of Ridley Scott films. He usually knows what the audience
wants to see. In this case, he didn't. The direction like the story was
all over the place, it didn't make a lot of sense, and seemed to be thrown
together. (0)
Story-
This is loosely based on the true story that occurred during the crusades
in the 12th century. The problem with this story though, it didn't have
flow to it. It seemed to be all over the place, and seemed to be a task to
keep up with. (0)
Expectations-
I actually expected this movie to be enjoyable. Boy was I wrong. This
movie fell flat because it seemed too complicated to keep up with. (0)
Boring?-
145 minutes of pure unadulterated dread. The sad thing is, I have been
hearing that the directors cut (which is 30% longer) is better. I just can
not deal with more than I already had to, it was dull and very boring and
to an extent very complicated. (0)
Final Score: 1/2
out of 5
Final Thoughts: I wish the
story wasn't too hard to follow. I am sure it could have been decent at
least. Oh well. Norton as the leper king was good stuff, I wish he would
have been in it more, I really enjoyed Brendan Gleeson for the short time
he was in this film too, but that's the way things fall...do not see this
movie, even if you are a fan of Orlando Bloom, it isn't worth the agony.
