Remember this is considered to be the worst movie ever made. Plan Nine from Outer Space Starring: Tor Johnson Almost Starring: Bela Lugosi Directed by: Edward D. Wood Jr. Running Time: 78 minutes Released 1959 Synopsis: Aliens are returning to earth after eight failed attempts of taking over the planet. The ninth plan involves aliens bringing back an army of recently dead people. This movie was originally entitled "Grave Robbers from Outer Space" but was changed for unknown reasons. My Thoughts: Lets start right off the bat by saying this is NOT the worst movie I have ever seen. Scorecard: Acting: The acting was bad. Bela Lugosi died during the making of this movie, and other than re-shooting the movie Ed Wood (the director) decided to put his chiropractor in there and hide his face to take over for the deceased Lugosi. Bad Idea Party of One. The only good acting was from Gregory Walcott (who played the pilot Jeff Trent) and he really wasn't in the movie all that much. The other actors were terrible. Maila Nurmi (vampira) just stood there the whole entire movie (I seriously can't remember her doing anything) Tor Johnson actually did stuff, but nothing worth mentioning. (0) Direction: This movie has to be the worse directed movie I have ever seen. Using the same clips over and over and over was terrible. The movie had no real direction to it. (0) Story: Shockingly, I actually liked the idea somewhat. Aliens come down to earth and re-animate the dead in order to take over the planet and try and save humanity. It is a decent enough story. (1/2) Expectations: My friend Jim said it best..." I expected it to be crap." I was waiting for the worst movie ever, I didn't get that. I can understand that people who have heard nothing about it going into seeing it for the first time would say its crap, but for me, I knew it would be bad...it just wasn't as bad as it could have been. (1/2) Boring?: Yes. There was a lot of boring spots in this movie. Nothing incredibly dull, but it still hurt the movie. (0) Final Score: 1 out of 5 Final Thoughts: This movie, if done today, with all of the effects today, could actually be a good movie. The story was good enough that it deserves a remake. Instead of remaking this "serious" movie, turn it into a comedy...it would be gold.
