Starring: Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman and Michael Caine

 Directed by: Christopher Nolan

 Rated PG-13

 Genre: Drama

Synopsis: A magicians wife is killed during an act, and he blames another magician that was helping and this sparks a feud to the death between the two.

My Thoughts: This movie sounded like the best movie I would see this year, sadly it wasn't even close.

  Scorecard

Acting- Michael Caine...thats all I should have to say to give this a good rating. But, I will add more. Caine plays an old magician that now makes illusions for up and comers, did a great job in his role. Hugh Jackman plays the magician that lost his wife and begins a grudge that lasts for years and does a good enough job not to make anyone mad. Christian Bale also does a decent enough job in his role of the other magician. (1)

Direction- Christopher Nolan gives us Batman Begins first, then gives us this. Not a good step. The direction of this movie was very iffy. The direction of the movie changed on a dime more than once, and it really wasn't needed. I did not like the direction this movie went. (0)

Story- I thought the story was good enough. Until the ending, which was pretty predictable if you were following the movie close enough, which granted it was very hard to do. But the story was good, until the added swerves that most people saw coming. (1/2)

Expectations- This movie did NOT meet any expectations. I was hoping this movie would be awesome. It looked great from all the previews, it wasn't as great as it was made out to be. (0)

Boring?- To be fair, this movie was not as boring as it could have been. There were some exciting times in this film and it did keep you intrigued to an extent. But with a running time of 130 minutes or so, there was a lot of down time, and it really hurt the flow of the film. (1/2)

Final Score: 2 out of 5

Final Thoughts: Depressing. I was hoping this movie could be an award winning movie. But it wont be, because there was nothing special about this film. The effects were neat, but nothing incredible great, do not waste the money to see this film in the theaters, BUT, for some people, you may want to see it in the cheaper theaters or renting it, this is just my thoughts on the film, I can see how people enjoy this movie though, and you may be one of them.
