just looking at the synopsis it sounds like a really bad horror movie,
with a chance to be kind of funny, well, one of the two was right, this
was a really bad horror movie.
Scorecard
Acting-
Having not seen Kristen Bell in anything before, I cannot really compare
her to anything she has done, but if this is her defining moment on the
silver screen she should feel ashamed. The acting was very wooden at best,
and really really bad at the worst of times. (0)
Direction-
This was Sonzero's first movie after being somewhat successful at music
videos and commercials. Not everyone hits homeruns with their first movie,
but sadly, this movie struck out. The flow of the movie was shaky, the
entire film of the movie was supposed to be dark, but it felt more
depressing than anything else, and the film didn't have a conclusion to
the main problem in the story, which leaves it wide open for a sequel,
which is very depressing. (0)
Story-
This film was based on a Japanese horror film by the name of Kairo, while
Pulse wasn't a complete remake of the original Japanese movie, it had the
same premise and failed miserably. There was nothing really enjoyable
about the story, and was more creepy than scary, and very depressing more
than anything else. A computer virus was released accidentally by a
hacker, the virus takes the shape of a ghost that feeds off the souls of
people, and the people that become infected soon start taking their lives
or turn to ash not long after being infected. The virus spreads to
computers and other communication devices all around the U.S., and the
characters can only survive by getting to dead zones where there is no
cell service or internet access, but the end of the movie really leaves
you scratching your head because it doesn't show ANY conclusion to ANY
problems, and it doesn't even show if the main characters make it to a
dead zone. This story was way too full of holes to be good, or even
watchable. (0)
Expectations-
From the commercials I saw, this film looked pretty good, it seemed to
have a good premise to it. The promos showed that a man took his life and
he is soon back on the computer trying to warn people about something bad
is about to happen, this had NOTHING to do with the movie at all, yeah,
the guy took his life after he let a virus loose, but that's it. (0)
Boring?-
Yes, this film was very boring. The story was full of holes, there was no
resolution to the problem and it was just over all really dull to watch.
This film had a running time of only 90 minutes, but it felt a lot longer
than that. This film followed one straight road from beginning to end, but
the road had so many pot holes it hurt the flow of the road. (0)
Final
Score: DUNG!
0 out of 5
Final Thoughts:
There was nothing good about this film. I was completely appalled with
this film, the film makers made this film for shock value, and there
wasn't anything really shocking about it. Avoid this movie at all costs,
this film reminds me of FEARdotCOM and that isn't a compliment.
