Well, if you have already taken a look at my
recommended movie this week you will see that it has to do with
redemption. I thought that I would keep the theme for the movie to avoid,
so here we go.
Redemption
Starring: Jaime Foxx
Running Time: 93 Minutes
Synopsis:
This is the true life story about the Crips co-founder Stanley "Tookie"
Williams.
My Thoughts:
Now don't get me wrong. I have no problem with Jaime Foxx, I have a
problem with the guy he portrayed in this movie. I really hated the fact
that they made this gang banging murder into the victim. This movie really
never had to be made, there was absolutely no real point to it, and the
character of "Tookie" was diplorable and not likeable at all, no
matter how much they tried to make him out to be the victim of
circumstance.
Scorecard:
Acting:
Jaime Foxx did a really bad job here. Now I am sure that it isn't all
his fault but the way he acted this character wasn't right. (0)
Story: To
be honest, I really could care less about this Tookie guy. He was a
murderer, he was put to death for it. He wasn't a good guy, plain and
simple. This story made him out to be a guy that was in the wrong place
and the wrong time type, and me knowing half the truth already, I really
just couldn't buy into this story it was a total farce. (0)
Direction:
This is where the blame lies. Did we really have to make the victims
of a brutal murder out to be clowns, heck from what I remember, they
didn't even get all the names right of the murder victims that Tookie
killed. That just makes my stomach churn. The direction of this movie went
away from what it should have done, this movie should have made Tookie out
to be a murder. This movie basically sanctified Tookie, and it was sick. (0)
Expectations:
I had no expectations going into this movie, I really didn't want to
see it in the first place. At least I wasn't disappointed. (0)
Boring?: For
the most part this movie wasn't all that boring. The story wasn't right,
but I really can't say that this movie was extremely boring. (1/2)
Final Score: 1/2
out of 5.
Final
Thoughts: No matter how nauseating this movie was, for the most
part, people know the truth. There was no reason or excuse for what they
tried to achieve in this movie. I am very disgusted with FOX for even
making this movie. But, it all ended happily with the real Stanley "Tookie"
Williams finally being put to death. To the families of the victims of
Tookie, I am sorry that this film was made, and at least you have some
peace of mind now.
