See No Evil
Starring: Kane
Directed by: Gregory Dark
Rated R
Genre: Horror
Synopsis: A group of
delinquents are sent to an old hotel to clean it up as a part of their
community service. But the problem is, the hotel that they thought was
abandoned still has one last guest inside, a psychopathic killer.
My Thoughts: To be honest, I
really still do not know what to think of this movie. This is the first
movie I have ever reviewed that I really don't know what I am going to
rate it. So lets continue, I am actually pretty eager to see what this
movie will rate as.
Scorecard
Acting-
Kane played the crazy killer Jacob Goodnight, and did a pretty
decent job at it. Having seen him in WWE for the last few years, I figured
that this character would be kind of kidded down, and it was in some
aspects, but was still pretty good. Not great, but still good. The
supporting actors really didn't have to do a whole lot. They just had to
run around, scream, get killed, scream some more, act like whores, and
scream a little more. (1/2)
Direction-
This film really didn't have very good direction. This film was directed
by a former pornography director, which would explain some of the awkward
shots in this movie. The story did not flow very well and was kind of
rough at times, you kind of expect that from a first time major film
director, but I do not except that as an excuse for bad direction. (0)
Story-
A group of troublemakers are sent to a hotel as part of
their community service agreement, and they begin getting killed. While
it's not the greatest story ever told, I have no problem with the general
idea of the story. I did on the other hand have a problem with the way the
story got to the ending, and what happened at the end of the film, it
really took away from the story itself. (1/2)
Expectations-
I was expecting this movie to be kind of crappy. I was pleasantly
surprised with what I got. While it was not the greatest movie I have ever
seen, this film was a lot better than what I personally expected to see. (1)
Boring?-
This film had a few boring parts and a few scenes that dragged a little,
that kind of hurt the overall flow of the movie, but for the most part it
was pretty exciting to watch. (1/2)
Final Score: 2
1/2 out of 5
Final Thoughts: Sure, this
movie got an average rating. It makes sense I suppose. Most critics have
been bashing this movie, saying that there was "bad directing and
genre clichés", I agree to an extent. There was bad directing, but
the genre itself is cliché (which means overused for you normal folk out
there). If critics really think about it, the Horror genre really hasn't
been original since the 80's, get over it, this movie was not great by any
means, but it was not as bad as people say it was.
