The Marine
Starring: John
Cena
Directed by:
John Bonito
Rated PG-13
Genre: Action
Synopsis:
Marine John Tritan was dismissed from the corps for disobeying an order.
His wife decides they need a vacation, but on there way she gets kidnapped
by a jewel thief. Now John Tritan must find her before it's too late.
My Thoughts:
This is the second release from WWE films. I was hoping that it would tell
a decent story with some good action, I was wrong.
Scorecard
Acting- John Cena should stick to wrestling. His acting was
wooden at best as John Triton, personally, I think that he could be a good
supporter, but was terrible as the leading man. Robert Patrick as the
jewel thief Rome was pretty gaudy at best, he seemed to be trying too hard
to be a funny type asshole, and it just didn't work. (0)
Direction-
It is very hard to screw this direction up. This movie is a single line
going straight ahead. But with the really bad "Real-Time-Action"
camera work, you really couldn't follow much of the action. Explosions
when they really weren't needed, and expected heel turns that would make
Vince Russo happy. I still have to scratch my head at how this was screwed
up this badly. (0)
Story-
We have all seen it before. Tough guy gets something of his taken, and he
tries to get it back, stuff get blown up in the process. Nothing
special. This story would have been better if there was more originality
to it. (0)
Expectations-
I expected this film to be bad. I wasn't disappointed either. It was bad. (1/2)
Boring?-
From a guys stand-point, I really can't say that this movie
was boring. Did it have me rolling my eyes at times? Yes. But, the film
was not boring per se it was just very predictable, and that hurts the
rating in my opinion. (1/2)
Final
Score: 1
out of 5
Final Thoughts:
My friend Sandy was right, this film shouldn't have been called The
Marine. There was little to do with the Marines themselves. He was just a
tough guy that happened to be a Marine, this film should have been called
"The Really Tough Guy You Don't Want to Mess With" or something
like that. So people, avoid this movie, unless you really have nothing
better to do, and even then, I would reconsider your options.
