My Thoughts: This
movie was well done in every aspect of film making.
Scorecard
Acting-
As some good friends would say, Keanu Reeves is the
"greatest actor in the world". Well, we all know better than
that, but truthfully, I honestly could not have seen anyone play Thomas
Anderson/Neo better than Keanu Reeves did. Laurence Fishburn plays
Morpheus the man that "frees" Neo from the Matrix, he too
also does a good job with the character that he was given. To be honest,
every actor did good jobs in their roles which is good enough for a half
star by itself, but the cast had so much chemistry it seemed that they
raised the bar for each other, and really helped with this category. (1)
Direction-
The Wachowski Brothers (of Larry and Andy) were very artsy with this
movie, but it worked very nicely. Great acting from their actors and
incredible FX really helped move this movie along, but the problem with
the direction is that there was a lot of down time, and a lot of
explaining. I am not criticizing the explanations, I am glad that they
explained things, but it really slowed the movie down. (1/2)
Story-
This story was incredibly well written. A computer hacker is given the
choice on whether to find out what the world is really about, or not. He
takes the opportunity to see the real world, and it changes the world,
real and fake. While there were a lot of slow spots in the story, they did
a nice job in explaining everything. (1)
Expectations-
Before I saw this movie, I had heard nothing but bad reviews, so of course
I was expecting something terrible. This movie was full of eye candy and
lots of really fun action, it far surpassed what little expectations I had
for it. (1)
Boring?-
As I said earlier there were a lot of slow spots, and it really dragged
the movie down some. But luckily the intriguing story really kept you
attached to the screen, but it seemed that the movie really couldn't
rebound from all the slow spots. (1/2)
Final Score:
4 out of 5
Final Thoughts: This
movie is a staple in modern cinema. This movie shows you what incredible
things can be done with special effects. I was very impressed with this
movie and I would absolutely recommend that anyone see this movie, even if
you have seen it, I think that you should go out and see it again, just
for the fact that this is one of the few movies that actually get better
each time you watch it, just make sure not to overwatch it.
