Tomorrow Never Dies

 Starring: Pierce Brosnan

 Directed by: Roger Spottiswoode

 Rated PG-13

 Genre: Action

 Theatrical Release Year: 1997

Synopsis: A media mogul is set out to take control of all media outlets and start a world war, it is up to James Bond to stop him.

My Thoughts: While not quite as great as the previous GoldenEye, is it possible to be at least decent?

   Scorecard

Acting- Pierce Brosnan returns as 007 and again does an incredible job with the character, but sadly the villain of Elliot Carver was not portrayed very well by acting legend Jonathan Pryce, and Bond girl Terri Hatcher did an abysmal job in her character as well, and  when you have two main characters not helping carrying the load of acting responsibilities the film hurts, but I am willing to give a half star just because Brosnan did an incredible job again. (1/2)

Direction- When you get a director whose best movie was Turner & Hooch, you know something isn't going to be good. There was little to no direction in this film. The story had no flow to it, the acting wasn't too great, and the overall feel of the direction was shaky at best. (0)

Story- I liked the idea of a media god trying to take over all the worlds media and make up his own news stories. It was a funny idea, not really a Bond idea though, the villain of Elliot Carver just was not evil enough to be a Bond villain, and that took away from the story, and with not a lot of continuity, the story was really hurting. (1/2)

Expectations- When a movie follows greatness, you really cannot expect greatness. I expected this movie to be on a downward spiral after the greatness of GoldenEye, and I got just about what I expected. (1/2)

Boring?- Luckily this movie really didn't have many boring parts to it. That is what I think really helped this movie succeed. There were few slow parts and the movie had a lot of action and a good enough story to keep the film rolling. (1)

   Final Score: 2 1/2 out of 5

Final Thoughts: Just an average film, but as Bond Films are considered, this was on the lower end of the spectrum. Nothing overly great about this movie, nothing too exciting either, but it was good enough to feel like you get your monies worth if you rent it.
